Project: Sen Sok Medical Clinic
Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Status: Completed
Goal: Accepting donations

Just for Asia opened a medical clinic in the Sen Sok community, located north of Phnom Penh, in June 2008.

The community has two villages, one is about 4 years old and the other is newly resettled. Both villages were relocated from the city garbage dump by the Cambodian government. These people have no clean water supply, no electricity, no land to grow crops, and no sanitation or medical facilities.

The work at our initial clinic continues, and has served 7,965 people from its inception to the end of the Year 2009. In 2009, we averaged over 380 people per month, and provided free medical care to them at a cost of about $2.50 per person. This free medical care is combined with a pastor who follows up with the villagers, meeting spiritual needs after their physical needs have been attended to. As a result, there have been many positive decisions to follow the Lord in Sen Sok, and the church there is growing. (Our partner organization, New Hope for Orphans, is increasing its commitment to the area, and the pastor there will soon become a full-time presence in the village.)
